Hypothermia
For some this picture will be a mystery, while others take it for granted.
We believe that hypothermia is a seriously underestimated problem area. You do not need to be cold to be cold; +20°C is enough and, if you’ve been in the water, that’s +25°C. Even if you are training in a heated pool, you will get cold as long as it is below +38°C, it’s just that it will take you a longer time to feel it!
HYPOTHERMIA is cooling that can be severe or mild, depending on how low your core temperature is. Hypothermia may be deadly, and three traumas and serious hypothermia can be devastating.
Another aspect is that active cooling may have a positive effect, for example in heart attacks, where recent research has shown good results with rapid treatment. We also have a presence in this field – in the ambulance with a newly developed product that has entered the test phase.
If you want to know more about hypothermia, we have a training course called “warm = life” that is run in partnership with medical staff. We can come to you and hold the course on your premises! Otherwise, you are welcome to come to our course centre in Krokom, 15 minutes from Åre/Östersund Airport.
